Interested in mobile payments or rewards programs?  Google Developers Live has posted a new 15-minute video that explains the objectives, features and tools behind Wallet Objects, Google’s new mobile customer engagement and payment platform for mobile developers.

Wallet Objects aims to help businesses increase customer engagement through digital versions of common wallet items such as credit cards, loyalty cards, and coupons. Google’s ultimate goal is to get retailers and shoppers to switch entirely to e-commerce, which saves time and money, and of course benefits Google.

Google Wallet is slowly gaining a foothold in the nascent mobile payments field, counting major names such as Hilton, Starbucks and Toys R Us among its supporters.  However so far, the program is only available to businesses and developers in the United States.
