Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Google and LG have officially added a “bright red” colored Nexus 5 to the Google Play devices store.  Hands-on reviews of the red Nexus (links below) describe it as closer to orange, but if your tastes run to the wilder side of the color spectrum, we suspect that you won’t quibble about the nuance.

LG Nexus 5 redIf bright red, white or black don’t do it for you, you can always opt for a $35 Nexus 5 bumper case, which comes in bright yellow, bright red, gray, and black.

The fire-colored Nexus 5 costs the same as the black and white versions–$349/£299 for 16GB and $399/£339 for 32GB–and the phone is shipping now from the Play Store.  LG says the new color will be available from this month in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Korea, with broader European availability by the end of the month.

If you’d rather buy the red Nexus 5 in person, you’re mostly out of luck–unless you’re in the UK, where you can find it at Carphone Warehouse stores–or in Canada, where Telus will sell the red Nexus for $99 on a two-year contract starting in March.

In its hands-on with the red Nexus, Engadget notes that it has the same smooth matte finish as the white version, while The Verge calls the red Nexus 5 easier to hold than the black version’s soft glossy plastic.  The Nexus 5 now comes with the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat installed.  The device has received great reviews, but before you buy, it’s still a good idea to check out our reviews roundup.
