Fifteen percent of employees’ wireless phone bills has nothing to do with business — because of employees downloading non-work related apps like entertainment news or premium services.  And, one in 50 companies gets a $15,000 roaming bill every month. That’s according to a survey of 180 companies by Visage, a mobile management services vendor.

If your company has a BYOD (bring your own device) policy, such hidden costs are all the more common.  While you might think you have your employee devices under control, hidden costs are everywhere, as illustrated in the infographic below.  Network Sourcing Advisors discovered that its employees were expensing entire family plans, and research firm Aberdeen Group recently uncovered extra expense report processing costs.

According to Visage, the most expensive mobile employees are real estate agents — each of whom racks up over $167 in monthly wireless charges — while the least expensive  are federal employees, who are kept in check at just under $84 per month.  Check out the infographic below for more findings from the Visage survey.
