These trusty Rust survival tips and tricks will help you survive and thrive:

If you’re a fan of the popular video game Rust, you know that it’s unique from most other survival games. That’s because Rust allows you and other players to explore the game’s many maps on your own terms. The game has no rules, goals, or objectives — and that gives you the liberty to choose what you do during your game time.

However, you only need to survive through whatever experience comes your way in the game. Here we’ll provide some Rust survival tips and tricks that will increase your chances of surviving and thriving. Also, equip yourself with some rust hacks to help boost the result of the tips you’re about to discover.

Our 6 Rust survival tips and tricks

  1. Only cook in the daytime!

In Rust, it’s a basic thing to cook and eat your meat. But one important factor players easily ignore is when they cook. A very important precaution that Rust players ignore is to avoid cooking their meals at night.

The fire you make at night alerts other players of your position and can result in raids. In such raids, you can hardly make out your opponents in the dark, but they can see you since you’re closer to the light.

  1. The server you play on affects your game results.

This tip may sound a bit strange or geeky, but it should never be taken for granted. You should avoid rushing into the game with any server that comes up quickly. Instead, click on the community option and select an option that fits you.

You will find options that allow you to play friendly or beginner matches. If you’re new to Rust, we recommend that you choose a server with the lowest number of players. It allows you to hone your skills better before going for tougher matches.

  1. Don’t put all your (treasure) eggs in one basket.

Many Rust players believe that having all their treasure in a single large base is the best way to play. This might be a cool idea, as it allows you to easily keep an eye on all your belongings. However, this is not always a safe idea.

Ever considered what would happen if enemies raided your base? That’s why we recommend that you build several small bases for storage while you keep one as your primary base. That way, you make your valuables more secure — after all, who’d want to raid a 2×2 shack?

  1. Avoid large monuments while you’re just starting out.

On first impulse, you’re most likely to go after big monuments, which hold the biggest loots. However, those places have higher radiations, and there’ll be a lot of other players after those loots, as well as yourself.

This means that you must have enough protective clothing on you against radiation. Also, make sure you have high-class weapons to protect yourself against other hostile players. So until you get those items, stick to smaller and safer monuments for loots.

  1. Gather your scrap around the ocean coast.

As you already know, scraps are valuable items you need to craft all the tools you’ll need in Rust. Apart from the monuments that might be too hostile to guarantee your safety, the ocean coasts are a great option.

All you need is a boat, which you can get from a fishing village. Along the coasts, you’ll find barrel scraps that you can use to craft weapons. You can still find sufficient amounts, which you can use to construct workbenches.

  1. Watch and boost your meter levels!

At the bottom right side of your screen, you will find three tabs that show your health, calories, and rad levels. Your health level is the most important thing to take heed of. Make sure you eat enough food to keep your health level up.

Also, injuries, hard hits, bits, and shots are the quickest way to drain your health. So, eat some food after any fights. Also, it depletes as you go about the map engaging in other activities. The rad meter shows how much you have been exposed to radioactive conditions. Make sure to wear protective clothing when you’re around monuments.
