Mobile Safety's Smart911 offers citizens the ability to provide
critical, life-saving information about themselves and their family
members through a secure website. Information can include a home
address associated with a mobile phone, recent photos, health conditions,
allergies or disabilities, which is made instantly available to
9-1-1 operators when an emergency call is made, dramatically improving
outcomes. Smart911 also provides enhanced location-based services
to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and first responders in
the field. Smart911's technology can monitor and update the location
of select mobile phones even after a call is dropped, providing
a 'bread-crumbing' effect.
Smart911
bridges the gap between the 40 year old infrastructure of today's
PSAPs and the sophisticated expectations of today's citizens, who
are increasingly dependent on mobile devices in their daily lives.
According to the FCC, more than 70 percent of calls to a 9-1-1 center
are from mobile phones. However, first responders can only pinpoint
a mobile callers' location within 200-300 meters (that's 2-3 football
fields!). That means if you live in an apartment building and don't
have a landline, 9-1-1 has no idea what floor you're on, never mind
which apartment you're in. Utilizing Smart911, call takers, dispatchers
and first responders have immediate access to vital caller information,
including mobile, VoIP and landline calls, enabling more informed
responses regardless of the mode of inbound communication and/or
quality of data available through 9-1-1.
In
addition to locating mobile callers, expansive personal information
entered into a citizens' Smart911 profile is critical for 9-1-1
operators to have in emergency situations. In the case of a missing
child, having their photo instantly available quickens the speed
at which an amber alert can be issued. The ability to enter medical
conditions is particularly important for citizens with disabilities
or impairments, who may need special consideration in emergency
situations. For instance, if there is an emergency involving a child
with autism, officers' flashing lights-which could cause further
harm-can be shut off before the vehicle approaches the child.
In
just its first year of availability, Smart911 is already available
to nearly 4 million users. The patented technology works on today's
infrastructure and seamlessly migrates to future NextGen 9-1-1 IP-based
systems. Working across all Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) work stations,
Smart911 requires no change to existing call handling or work flow
procedures. Smart911 is supported by a 24x7 helpline and Rave's
reputation for best-in-class performance and reliability.
