Covering
more than 75,000 locations nationwide, Citysearch combines in-the-know
editorial recommendations, candid user comments and expert advice
from local businesses to keep users connected to the most popular
and undiscovered places wherever they might be. Citysearch launched
their first mobile site in 2006, knowing that mobile would become
a key channel for local search content. Two years after that initial
launch, Citysearch turned to Trilibis to help redesign and expand
its mobile web offering. And in 2010, they leaned once again on
the Trilibis team's expertise to create an SEO-optimized site for
touch screen devices.
The
goal was two-fold: to leverage the growing SEO and SEM traffic coming
from mobile browsers and to improve the user experience leveraging
the capabilities of newer, more powerful devices.
With
2000+ devices accessing the Citysearch mobile site on a monthly
basis, Trilibis chose to develop a separate version to deliver an
optimized mobile web experience for touch screens, completely rebuilding
the look and feel to accommodate these super phones. Creating an
app-like experience, Trilibis devised more ways to search through
the content, while also incorporating location-based functionality
so that consumers could seamlessly access the closest nearby entertainment,
shopping and restaurants.
To
truly harness SEO and SEM traffic and differentiate the Citysearch
mobile offering from its competition, Trilibis incorporated most
of Citysearch existing editorial and user generated content into
its touch-optimized mobile web application. This enabled the search
indexes to point mobile users directly to the appropriate merchant
pages and other relevant content, presented in a mobile-optimized
manner. To further leverage mobile SEO, and to streamline URL entry
across web and mobile, Trilibis implemented top domain redirect.
On
an ongoing basis, Trilibis works with Citysearch personnel to periodically
update the site with usability improvements and new features.
Since
the launch of a touch-screen specific, SEO driven mobile site, Citysearch's
mobile web presence experienced:
