Dongfeng Honda Engine Co., Ltd. (DHEC), a joint venture of Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Honda Motor Co., Ltd., wanted to integrate a wireless network into its new automated manufacturing and operations system to give personnel timely access to applications. The previous wired infrastructure limited users' ability to access information, and DHEC wanted to eliminate the need for costly wiring.

Phase I of the project was completed early in 2005, and Phase II was completed in February 2006. Today, Strix IWS and OWS mesh networks provide strategic, facilities-wide wireless access throughout eight DHEC plants, including Honda's main automobile engine factory, the engine assembly facility, and the automobile casting plant.

The company's project offices use the IWS and OWS to provide a secure, high-performance, enterprise-class wireless network infrastructure for plant workers, managers, and executives. Strix Access/One solutions enable fast and cost-effective network deployment and remove the need for physically wiring the plants, which would interrupt the time-sensitive 24x7 manufacturing and assembly process.
