Paramedics
are in the field on the go and need to be connected to the information
they need. Through advanced technology many are now able to communicate,
but enabling that capability from a moving vehicle has, until now,
been an expensive and challenging problem.
Puckett
EMS is a family-owned business that was incorporated in March 2001,
and since then, has seen explosive growth. Their vision is to provide
the highest quality, reliable ambulance services to the communities
they serve. The company provides emergency medical services to 600,000
residents of Southwest Cobb County, Georgia, responding to over
20,000 calls each year.
Puckett
EMS's innovative deployment of In Motion's onBoard Mobile
Gateway and onBoard Mobility Manager has enabled
them to improve pre-hospital patient care. Since implementing In
Motions technology in late 2005, Puckett EMS has reduced ambulance
response times from 12 to less than 10 minutes. Dispatchers have
reduced the time to find the closest ambulance available to take
a call, and pre-arrival instructions are quickly sent to ambulance
crews while en route. Paramedics can also use the gateway for research
on the scene to make more informed treatment decisions.
Operators
are able to control driver performance by monitoring EMT driving
habits; Puckett EMS has experienced no preventable vehicle accidents
in the last two years, and has reduced insurance costs by 30% over
24 months. With streamlined communications and real-time synchronization
between paramedics and the billing department, Puckett EMS has reduced
billing time from 2-3 weeks to one day. Patient care records are
legible and demographic information is automatically uploaded to
the billing system.
The
onBoard Mobile Gateway enables Puckett EMS to continue its
commitment to emergency responders by providing access to online
training programs, email, company policies, procedures and protocols
from the field.
The
strategic vision of Puckett EMS and their ability to execute that
vision is extraordinary. They have significantly improved their
operations and emergency medical services in their community, and
are setting a new standard for EMS operations in the United States.
