mBridge
works by allowing the recipient to download and reply to incoming
MMS messages from a web URL link embedded in an SMS notification,
allowing subscribers who send the message to use their normal sending
procedures.
Multimedia
messaging service (MMS) allows mobile subscribers to send messages
with pictures and videos as easily as they do other text messages.
As a large majority of new mobile phones are equipped with both
still and video cameras as standard issue, mobile operators have
seen a direct increase in the demand for rich content messaging
from customers. Aicent's mBridge enables these mobile operators
to meet this rising demand from customers through seamless MMS interconnection
delivery, thus increasing user satisfaction while concurrently stimulating
their MMS market growth.
According
to CTIA, in North America alone, more than 5.6 billion MMS messages
were sent in the first half of 2008 - almost as many as were sent
in all of 2007. Worldwide MMS traffic in 2008 hit 75 billion messages
with revenues of U.S. $31 billion expected worldwide next year,
according to a study released in December 2008 by Portio Research.
Aicent's
MMS-Virtual Delivery uses SMS to notify the mobile subscriber of
a received MMS. Since SMS is available globally to virtually any
handset model, there are no interoperability issues for SMS notification.
The Aicent MMS-Virtual Delivery Web retrieval portal supports all
major browsers and plays all major mobile media formats including
text, image, audio and video.
Unlike
similar products on the market today, Aicent's mBridge enables operators
to instantly offer worldwide reach through successful MMS delivery.
By allowing subscribers to deliver messages globally, mobile operators
can leverage on large SMS penetration around the world.
