Beiks
has released a new version of its English Dictionary Pro,
which boasts over 77,000 words in a database a little larger
than 5 megabytes. Major updates include resident lookup with
rich text output and links, a new database structure and support
for audio pronunciations. Beiks English Dictionary Pro v6.0
for Palm OS is $13.45 at
Handango. In addition, the company has updated many of its
other language products including the TrueVoice Talking
English Dictionary, German
/ English Dictionary, English
/ Spanish Dictionary, multi-language
bundle, and others.
Iambic
has released Vehicle Manager, an auto maintenance
tracking app for use on a single car or a whole fleet. Vehicle
Manager lets users record a variety of information about automotive
stats, plus recurring expenses such as maintenance visits and
gas fill-ups. Users can also track fuel consumption and fill
up history, insurance and registration, track trips, and calculate
total cost of ownership. Vehicle Manager for Palm OS v3.5 is
$17.95 at
Handango, with a free trial period offered. Vehicle Manager
is also available for Windows Mobile.
Resco
has released Resco Explorer 2008, its file system browser,
image viewer, launcher, zipper, backup utility and FTP/LAN browser
with an impressive range of features and customizable options.
The new version includes GUI improvements such as smoother scrolling
and improved searching, Bluetooth browsing and FTP support,
an improved audio player with network streaming, and a secure
encryptable storage area. Resco Explorer 2008 v4.01.4 is $17.95
at
Handango. It includes a free trial version and supports
most Palm OS 5 and above devices. Resco is also now offering
the Resco Suite, which combines six of their top Palm
OS apps -- Explorer, Viewer, Backup, IDGuard, Neeews,
and a Sudoku game. The full bundle is being sold for
$53.96 at
Handango. Purchased individually, the total cost would be
$125, representing just about a 50% discount.
SHAPE
Services has updated their remote desktop client, RDM+
Remote Desktop, which lets users remotely access a XP or
Vista home or laptop computer even through NAT systems and firewalls.
Users can send and receive emails, surf web, edit documents
in word processor, copy, cut, paste files or folders, etc. RDM+
uses strong encryption protocols. The update includes a new
file manager feature. RDM+ v3.6.8 for Palm OS is $34.95 at
Handango and comes with a fully functional seven day trial.
Symbian
Handmark
has announced new UK versions of its Pocket Express news
and information service for S60 handsets. The UK version
offers local content for the UK, including updates from global
financial markets, flight status for more than 75,000 international
destinations from over 3,500 airports, cinema show times, the
New Oxford Dictionary of English and companion Oxford Thesaurus,
and a live personal assistant called MobileCierge. The UK version
of Pocket Express for S60 is available at PocketExpress.eu.
Pocket Express will soon be available for BlackBerry devices

Symbian
Guru has released version 2.0 of its BT Guard security
software for Series 60 3rd edition phones, which protects
the user's phone from unauthorized access via Bluetooth. BT
Guard changes Bluetooth status automatically according to a
user's settings. The application now has Active Connection Guard,
which doesn't interfere when using a Bluetooth headset, but
will turn Bluetooth off when the user stops using the headset.
When it's time to change Bluetooth status, the application can
ask for confirmation to turn it invisible or off. BT Guard is
available for US $9.89 at
