Enterprise mobile software news: Sept.

Oct. 13, 2006 -- Following is a roundup of recent enterprise software
announcements.
Conceivium released version 1.8 of its monitoring system
for BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Version 1.8 introduces the
company's patent-pending intelligence monitor (i_Monitor) technology,
which provides a variety of expert monitors to watch over server
status, server mail flow, and user mail flow. According to Conceivium,
i_Monitors have been custom engineered to proactively monitor
specific areas of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to prevent
critical problems.
Using a console, administrators can also monitor the critical
areas of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and can set up alerts
to notify them via SNMP trap, SMS, and email. Version 1.8 also
includes support for Version 4.1 of the BlackBerry Resource Kit,
and provides new call log reports, an optional client for a BlackBerry
handset, and a new broadcast message facility. Conceivium recently

DataViz announced today that RoadSync, its Exchange
ActiveSync client, is now available for mobile devices with Windows
Mobile 2003 Second Edition software. Besides wirelessly synchronizing
e-mail, attachments, calendar and contacts, this edition of RoadSync
supports new mobility features added in Microsoft Exchange Server
2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) such as: Direct Push Technology, Remote
Wipe, Global Address List Lookup and IT Policy Enforcement. As
Microsoft Exchange added these new mobility features in SP2, a
corresponding Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) was added
to Windows Mobile 5.0. DataViz says that it RoadSync will also
soon support Windows Mobile 5.0. RoadSync recently won a 2006

Funambol announced version 3 of its Funambol mobile email
service for developers, enterprises and carriers. Funambol says
that v3 supports Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and will support Windows
Mobile Smartphones soon. The company says it is working with major
device manufacturers to include SyncML 1.2 for push email on their
new devices. Funambol also plans to release a J2ME client for
Java phones early next year. Funambol provides open source plug-ins
that sync PIM data on BlackBerries and Palms and is working with
the community and third parties to add support for push email.
The Carrier Edition and Network (enterprise) Edition are available
for Windows and Linux, and can be purchased by contacting Funambol.

Greenlight Wireless announced that its Advertizer
service, which provides advertisements for desktop and mobile
environments, served over a quarter-billion ads in August. While
72% of Advertizer's traffic last month came from the desktop environment,
mobile ad requests have increased, according to Greenlight. Advertizer
recently won a 2006 Mobile Star Award from MobileVillage readers.

Sybase's iAnywhere released version 6.2 of M-Business
Anywhere, which enables the delivery of Web-based content
and applications to mobile devices rapidly and cost-effectively
for online and disconnected use. New features in v6.2 include
support for Microsoft Smartphones and VGA screen resolution, soft
key navigation for Windows Mobile, and the ability to install
the M-Business Anywhere client and all synched content and data
on an SD (Secure Digital) card, rather than in the device memory.
iAnywhere also released version 8.1 of Advantage Database
Server, an embedded client/server data management system for
application developers that provides ISAM table-based and SQL-based
data access. Updated features include improved user defined functions,
TCP/IP support, and enhanced SQL performance and replication improvements.

Sybase released Unwired Accelerator 8.0, a mobile
application that enables developers and IT professionals to build
custom mobile applications that extend existing enterprise information
sources, including SAP ERP, BMC Remedy Service Desk, Business
Objects and Crystal Reports XI, Lotus Notes, JDBC databases, Web
Services or Web applications, directly to handhelds. Version 8.0
includes improved application support for Business Objects XI,
Crystal Reports XI, Lotus Notes 6.5, Remedy Service Management
and SAP ERP. Other new features include server push and differential
synchronization support for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Java
ME; a new Customization Wizard for the BlackBerry; a new Eclipse-based
mobile tooling in addition to Web-based tooling; a new .NET Compact
Framework API; connected and disconnected support for Java ME
devices that support MIDP 2.0 profiles and CLDC 1.0 runtime; and
support for SOA (Service Orientated Architecture.
