Editor's Pick: Conceivium MobileAnalyzer, MobileMonitor
MobileVillage,
Sept. 1, 2006 -- Conceivium's new White
Paper is worth a read. Here's the introduction.
At Conceivium, we strive to stay ahead of the game. As part of
our company mission, it is our goal to provide solutions that
help our customers today as well as keep an eye on what the mobile
world will bring tomorrow. You need solutions that are ready before
you implement new technology. Since we are company that stays
on the leading edge of technology, we provide state-of-the-art
solutions that provide many advantages over our competition:
We utilize a simplified distributed, yet powerful, architecture.
- Distributed architecture. Our solutions run on a distributed
BlackBerry® network with servers physically located all
around the world. Our solution is highly efficient because all
the processing is completed by our MobileMonitor Agent that
runs locally on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server(tm). In addition,
data is transferred daily during non-peak hours.
- Extensive server monitoring. We monitor each BlackBerry
Enterprise Server individually by installing a standalone Agent
on each one instead of using a centralized server method. Why?
If you use a centralized server for monitoring and your server
goes down, you lose everything...no performance data or management
capabilities. Our architecture keeps you protected. It maximizes
the ability to keep watch over your enterprise...we don't fail
you when just one server in your enterprise goes down. We keep
watch over each actively running BlackBerry Enterprise Server
24/7.
Solutions for Today and the Future The Right Choice: MobileAnalyzer
and MobileMonitor
- Low overhead. Because we install an Agent on each server,
our solution has a very low overhead affect on your network.
- Common data management infrastructure. Our solutions
utilize commonly used data management products, such as Microsoft
Data Engine (MSDE) and SQL. We do not require any expensive
backend software.
We monitor log files instead of SNMP data.
- Real-time data. Through extensive research we have
found that everyone has different needs for monitoring. One
thing that is consistent is that everyone needs real-time data,
which can only be provided through log files.
- Open log file monitoring. As a result, we provide open
log file monitoring that allows you to decide what you want
to monitor. You choose the data that is important for your organization
to monitor; we don't make that decision for you.
- Proactive monitoring for all levels. We proactively
monitor application, system, and user-level statistics. We provide
the most granular data available today to enable you to quickly
resolve issues before critical problems occur in your environment.
We provide historical reporting straight out-of-the-box.
MobileAnalyzer provides a robust reporting facility that includes
a wide-variety of reports that you can use to quickly find the
information you need. We provide automated, customizable, Enterprise
Server Resource Kit reporting facility that eliminates the time-consuming
task of building reports manually. The report results can be used
to analyze trends, assess environments, and plan for the future.
We provide a powerful graphical user interface that is easy-to-use.
- Point-and-click. MobileAnalyzer, our graphical user
interface, requires very little training. Our point-and-click
methodology, graphical dialogs, and clean look-and-feel, allows
you to quickly find information that you need.
- BlackBerry device or web interface, its your choice.
You can use MobileAnalyzer on your BlackBerry device or using
or the web interface. Remotely monitor and manage your enterprise
from anywhere.
We provide extensive built-in Help Desk support facilities.
MobileAnalyzer's multiuser, multi-BlackBerry Enterprise Server
web console search facilities allow first responders at the help
desk to quickly search across multiple BlackBerry Enterprise Servers
for a user. The powerful search facility allows help desk staff
to find information using various criteria (e.g., name, PIN, phone
number).
With MobileAnalyzer, first-level help desk support staff can
take BlackBerry support calls and quickly search for the users
location, device/account details, access real-time user statistics,
and perform day-to day BlackBerry device management tasks (i.e.,
reset passwords).
Help desk staff can easily access all these features using either
a BlackBerry MDS Browser Application (see right) or an HTML web
browser.
Monitoring Potential Carrier Issues: MobileMonitor's Proactive
Mail Flow Detection Feature
MobileMonitor provides a proactive mail flow detection intelligence
monitor (i_Monitor) that allows administrators to configure notifications
and visual cues (red and green lights on an easy-to-use console)
based on a period of time that passed since the BlackBerry Enterprise
Server has not delivered mail. This intelligent feature constantly
monitors the BlackBerry Enterprise Server logs for message delivery
confirmations. Quickly see the status of your mail delivery. Use
of color allows you to monitor your mail delivery at a glance.
By default, the notification console turns red if no messages
are successfully delivered during peak hours for 5 minutes and
after hours for 10 minutes. This time threshold can be altered
by the administrator. This monitoring threshold is far more reliable
than a round-trip message test to a device because it is a pure
indication of a stoppage in successful mail flow from the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server. If the mail status delivery notification is
received and no other error or warning relating to the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server or the SRP is received, then it is a high chance
that the problem resides with the carrier.
