mobile field service news.
SAT Corp.
has ported its field force automation work process management
system to the .NET Compact Framework (CF). IntelaTrac Version
3.0, which is now certified for Windows Mobile 5.0, provides an
extensible mobile infrastructure for rapid deploying mobile task
management and collaborative automation capabilities, according
to the company.
The IntelTrac
system is based on a technique called "Adaptive Process Management,"
described by SAT as a "rules-based workflow model for implementing
field force automation around complex processes." This workflow
model facilitates the migration from a manual, paper-based data
collection process to an automated information management system
with a systematic way to collect field data and apply business
rules with defined responses to changing process conditions and
abnormal situations, according to the company.
SAT says
IntelaTrac v3.0 is certified for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices and
supports SQL Server 2005. Other new features are include:
- Procedures
on Demand (POD) that delivers the right information to the right
person and the right time
- Support
for RFID Universal Data Format (UDF) for asset tracking and
regulatory compliance
- A "virtual
log book" for tracking task change status and corrective
action validation
Version 3.0
also includes a streamlined Work Request Interface to help field
personnel easily and properly enter work notifications into Enterprise
Asset Management (EAM) systems, the company says.

Intergraph
has announced its OneMobile enterprise information application
for utility and communications companies. OneMobile aims to facilitate
connectivity for interrelated systems including geospatial information
systems, outage management, mobile workforce management, and work
management all from within the vehicle in the field.
According
to Intergraph, OneMobile enables field personnel can use one geospatial
user interface (GUI) to receive multiple types of work, view and
redline facility map data, share resources across departments,
and communicate with back-office applications. OneMobile supports
workflows including design, inspection, damage assessment, viewing,
routing, and dispatching.
