ACCESS
has announced version 3.3 of its NetFront browser for Pocket PC
devices. New in 3.3 is features tab browsing so users can switch
between multiple web pages in one browser window. NetFront automatically
resizes Web pages to fit mobile screens. New features include
support for VGA LCDs, support for RSS and Atom feed, and a page
translation function for languages. NetFront 3.3 costs about US
$30 and is available at
Handango, where a limited time discount is offered.
Iambic
released version 11 of its popular Agendus for Palm
OS software, a personal information manager for Palm OS handhelds
and smartphones. This latest version adds an Agenda Walkthrough
feature that lets users create a to-do list, track what actually
happened and which items are to be moved to subsequent meetings/actions.
Improvements were also made in the Tasks/To Do part of Agendus.
It now supports Outliner/Mini Project Tracker, which means that
users can use their desktop computer to quickly type in the various
tasks they are tracking. When performing a Hotsync, those tasks
will appear in the mobile. Also, in Task mode, the Hierarchy view
now shows percent completion.
Other new
features include "Power Search" capabilities, the ability
to go back to previously viewed screens, and additional views
to choose from in calendar mode, with the "Today" view
including up to six upcoming calendar, task, call and alarm related
items. Travelers can more easily connect specific flight, car
rental, and hotel information to an itinerary. Frequent travelers
can save trip templates for future use. Version 11 also lets users
retrieve weather information for a destination with a tap from
the Edit Trip screen. Agendus for Palm OS Professional Edition,
Version 11 can be downloaded and purchased at Handango

iAnywhere
has added free RSS (Really Simple Syndication) features to its
AvantGo mobile Internet service. According to the company,
AvantGo users can add any RSS feed to their account, without installing
additional software, and then synchronize using a wireless or
desktop Internet connection to receive the feed items in a format
optimized for their device. AvantGo for RSS service is available
for AvantGo 5.7 or above users. To learn more or to subscribe

PhatWare
released version 8.3 of CalliGrapher, its tool for entering
handwritten data on Windows Mobile devices. The new version of
CalliGrapher features four additional PenCommands that allow dialing
phone numbers, sending SMS messages and e-mails, and capturing
video and still images with the built-in camera. PenCommander
is a feature of CalliGrapher that allows users to launch pre-recorded,
user-defined commands. The software supports devices running on
any Windows Mobile 2003 based Pocket PC or later; however, some
new PenCommands require a phone-enabled Pocket PC and Windows
Mobile 5.0. CalliGrapher 8.3 can be purchased from PhatWare.com
or Handango
for about $40 and is a free upgrade for users of 8.0 or later.
Owners of previous versions can upgrade for $25.
Prolifiq
Software has released its OnPoint Mobile for BlackBerry
application, which provides business users with access to mobile-ready
digital marketing messaging templates. OnPoint Mobile is accessed
through an icon on the BlackBerry Home screen. The software lets
users quickly locate and send messages, without having to download
or store the content on their devices, according to Prolifiq.
Marketing teams can quickly deploy new content to the field, and
sales teams can deliver branded content to qualified leads. In
addition, sales people can receive instant notifications when
customers and prospects read and forward messages. OnPoint Mobile
is available at www.prolifiq.net. Prolifiq did not provide pricing
details.
WebMessenger
released the latest versions of its Mobile Instant Messenger
(IM) clients for Palm and Pocket PC devices. The application allows
users to securely correspond via IM or chat over all major public
networks, including AOL, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN and Yahoo.
The enterprise version also includes interoperability with IBM
Lotus Sametime, Jabber XCP, Microsoft Exchange IM, Microsoft LCS
and Reuters Messaging. Users can also send and receive extended
presence awareness information (online, busy, away and not available)
as well as recognize the device of origin (desktop or mobile).
A free,
fully functional 15-day trial version of each application is available
at webmessenger.com. A one-year client license key, which includes
all service and version upgrades of the client, costs about US
$30. WebMessenger also offers a subscription plan for $5.95/month.
X-Act!
Software released version 3.0 of KnowledgeWorx, its
flagship product for knowledge sharing among mobile employees.
The software lets users capture, reuse and share knowledge with
others using standard handheld devices or web browsers. Organizations
can create and share surveys, quizzes, audits, training kits,
games, and data collection kits -- all without complex tools or
computer languages, according to X-Act. New features in version
3.0 include: more deployment targets (Web/HTML and Rich Text in
addition to PalmOS and PocketPC devices); a Rule Assistant that
assists users; a Text Importer that enables users to reuse and
import existing text-based surveys; multi-lingual support; and
improved utilities to automatically package assets for each device

Scientific Component has released GPS ToolKit.NET Mobile --
a .NET Compact Framework version of its GPS ToolKit.NET product.
The kit provides an API for communicating with a variety of GPS
units, including RS232 and Bluetooth devices. It provides access
to real-time position, speed, course, satellite, and navigation
data, and also can automatically detect GPS units, transfer waypoints,
add routes, and download tracks from many Garmin GPS devices.
The software is priced from $299, and may be used royalty-free
