Healthcare software news: May 1 - 12, 2006
May 12, 2006
-- (MobileVillage) -- Below is a roundup of recently announced
mobile healthcare products.
| Telzuit
Medical Technologies is in the final stages of launching
its first product, the FDA-approved Bio-Patch Wireless Heart
Monitor, a full 12-lead, wireless holter monitor, which measures,
records, and transmits physiological signals associated with
a patient's cardiovascular system to a Bluetooth enabled Treo
handheld. |
|
The Bio-Patch
is attached to a patient's chest and consists of six electrodes
that are imbedded in a disposable bandage-like strip. The Bio-Patch
captures electrical impulses of the patient's heart and transmits
this information via Bluetooth to the patient's Treo smartphone.
The phone receives, records, and stores the electrical activity
of the patient's heart. According to Telzuit, data is transmitted
every two to four hours to an independent diagnostic testing facility
that stores, and processes this data. Healthcare providers can
rapidly access reports via a dedicated HIPAA (Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act)-compliant Web site.
Telzuit plans
to give the Bio-Patch units to doctors offices in Central Florida
this summer at no charge, expecting that health insurance will
cover the costs.
