Mobile field service software roundup: April 10 - 28, 2006

April 28, 2006 -- (MobileVillage) -- Below is a roundup of recently announced mobile field service products.

Astea introduced FieldCentrix Enterprise 4.1 , the first update to the field service management software since Astea acquired FieldCentrix in September 2005. Version 4.1 introduces improvements in real-time, remote inventory insight and staff optimization, as well as a new fleet management application.

Astea says it is introducing a new toolkit for customizing, extending or building new mobile applications that synchronize and speed workflow with extremely flexible options for reporting and tracking. The company also says it is working on integrating the FieldCentrix Enterprise solution into Astea Alliance, its back-end service lifecycle management software suite.

Fastech Integrated Solutions has announced FastLink, its hosted, on demand mobile field sales application that allows representatives from Merchandising Service Organizations to measure and respond to the needs of retail customers using a Web-based surveys. Data can be managed through Web-enabled laptops, PDAs and cell phones. Survey results can be exported to Excel or CSV format for subsequent distribution and analysis.

Tadpole Technology released its GO! Sync Mobile GIS Framework (MGF) field force automation platform, an open, extensible framework that enables organizations using ESRI software to deploy mobile GIS. According to Tadpole, GO! Sync MGF resides in the core of GO! Sync Mobile GIS, built on ESRI's ArcGIS Engine. It provides a framework within which users can access core functionality to create mobile applications, customized to operational and technical requirements.
