Enterprise mobile software roundup: Nov. 28 - Dec. 20, 2005

continued from page 1

Rockliffe has announced version 7.0 of its MailSite mail server software for hosting companies and internet service providers. MailSite includes support for multiple wireless email management options, and integrates with SQL databases to automate the provisioning and billing of wireless push email and other messaging services. MailSite services can be provisioned on a per mailbox or per domain basis directly from a cluster-wide SQL database - with no data replication required.

The server-side software that powers the push email functionality in MailSite 7.0 has been in production in the Eudora2go.net wireless email service that has been distributed in the US by Verizon since March of 2005, according to Rockliffe. Subscribers have the ability to set server-side rules to trigger push notifications to their mobile phone based on the name of the sender - as with Yahoo!'s recently launched service - or based on the email content; for example if the email contains a word such as "order" or "meeting".

MailSite 7 is available from December 13 2005. Service provider prices start at $1250 for 500 mailboxes. For information see rockliffe.com

Saratoga Systems has released Saratoga CRM 6.5, the latest version of its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. New features include:

  • New Web Services support – Lets users access any type of SAP data anywhere in the enterprise. As a result, Saratoga CRM can now consolidate information gathering for manufacturing, supply chain, order processing, human resources, and any other SAP-driven applications.
  • A new alert engine – Monitors the CRM system as well as other back end systems and generates e-mail notifications instantly when certain conditions and business rules apply, such as when a contract is about to expire or a credit threshold is exceeded.
  • New Outlook and Lotus Notes push capability – Can push tasks, appointments, or contacts to Outlook and Lotus Notes en masse, and then keeps the information automatically synchronized with the CRM database.
  • New web dashboard – Allows each user to create any number of dashboards via an intuitive drag and drop interface.

Saratoga CRM begins shipping this month. Pricing is based on per-user licensing and averages from $1,100 to $1,800 per user. For information see saratogasystems.com, or the company's summary page on MobileVillage.

Traverse Networks, a provider of mobile software for enterprise voice systems, announced Traverse CallConnect with Visual Voicemail software, which enables workers to control their IP-PBX based phone, including corporate voicemail, through an interface designed for mobile phones, Blackberry devices and Palm Treo devices. Device users can manage delivery of incoming calls, initiate outbound calls and see and hear voicemail through an email-like inbox. The CallConnect Mobility Server is deployed within the enterprise, and integrates with common IP-PBX systems and voicemail platforms.

CallConnect can send calls to both the desk phone and mobile phone simultaneously. Both phones ring; either can be answered. CallConnect also forwards phone calls from the business phone number to any phone designated by the user including a home office or hotel room phone number. CallConnect can also be set up to automatically send calls to different phone numbers according to a pre-defined schedule. With the Call Log feature, users can view calls to and from the office phone and can save call information to the CallConnect phonebook, where "VIPs" can be designated, or certain calls can be assigned to the "Block Interruptions" feature. Users can also search the corporate directory on their mobile phones by first name, last name or department.

Utimaco Safeware has extended its authentication and encryption tool for mobile devices, SafeGuard PDA, to support Palm OS 3.5 and above. (The software also supports Windows Mobile, Symbian, and BlackBerry.) SafeGuard PDA authenticates users via password or number code. It includes a secure screen saver and support for quick access to telephone calls without the need for an additional logon. Forgotten passwords can be reset centrally by using SafeGuard's emergency recovery system. IT managers can set up password guidelines, encryption and security rules for company PDAs centrally, and then enforce them throughout the organization. For more information, see utimaco.us.
