October
10, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Utimaco Safeware AG has released
version 4.0 of its SafeGuard mobile security software for
enterprises with workers using Windows Mobile and Symbian-based
smartphones and PDAs. Version 4.0 is the first to add support
for Symbian.
SafeGuard
PDA 4.0 authenticates users by password, symbol or number
code. Forgotten passwords can be reset centrally via SafeGuard's
emergency mechanism, ensuring that affected staffers can resume
working as quickly as possible.
Other
features include a secure screen saver, and support for quick
telephone calling without additional logon.
Besides
encrypting files and directories, SafeGuard PDA also can encrypt
internal databases used in Personal Information Management
(PIM) such as e-mails, SMS, tasks and events. Data is totally
restricted unless the user has the correct authorization.
SafeGuard
PDA's Microsoft Management Console enables IT managers to
set up password guidelines and encryption and security rules
for company PDAs
centrally, then implement them throughout the organisation.
