September
19, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Startup company ComVu today
launched its flagship product, a mobile broadcasting service
that enables owners of camera phones to transmit live video
broadcasts of any length and to any size audience.
ComVu's
service lets owners of camera-equipped smart phones broadcast
live events to people, who can then watch the live video feed
on mobile devices or PCs with Windows Media compatible players.
The service integrates "one button" live video streaming
capabilities, video archiving on ComVu's servers, and a personal
broadcast page directly accessed by viewers.
ComVu
allows for instant notification to groups of contacts (family,
friends, colleagues) via SMS, IM or email. Users can also
include tags and other video information to help categorize
and search for videos; capture geo-position data in video
stream to allow viewers to locate transmission point on map;
and immediately post a video to a blog.
ComVu
is available in beta release for any Windows Mobile 5 device,
as well as the Axia A108 PDA phone, Asus 730W media handheld,
and Windows Pocket PC XScale devices with VEO SD camera.
A free
trial of the ComVu software can be downloaded from comvu.com.
Broadcast packages begin at US $10/month or $80/year that
allow for about 8 hours of broadcasting or playback, and 100MB
of storage. Consumers must have access to a data services
network.
