September
21, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- According to an online poll
conducted the past two weeks by CMP Media, one third of all
those surveyed have already given up their landline phones
in favor of their cell phones.
Of those
who haven't given up their landline, over 40% (27% of all
those surveyed) plan to give it up within the next two years.
Another 35% of landline holdouts (21% of all surveyed) plan
to go completely mobile sometime after two years from now.
Of the
remaining landline users, about a quarter (19% of all surveyed)
say that they'll never give up their landline phone.

Many
of those who plan to keep their landline people complained
about cell networks' unreliability. Other reasons mentioned
include the need for one phone number for family members;
a perceived lack of reasonably priced "unlimited"
calling plans; and the need for a landline for Internet
service. |
