New software erases or blocks calls on Symbian phones

September
29, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- According to a "recent
mobile phone user survey" cited by UK based phone software
company Alibitel, two thirds of respondents looked at what
was on their partner's mobile, and nearly half said they did
it secretly. (Alibitel did not provide details of the survey,
so it's anyone's guess as to whether or not it is representative
of the general population.)
For people
who wish to hide certain phone numbers from such prying eyes
however, Alibitel has announced an application for Symbian
phones that can automatically remove all traces of selected
individual calls, and also block unwanted calls.
The software,
called AlibitelContactHandler, combines a Call Eraser with
various privacy options and a Call Blocker for select Symbian
mobile phones (Nokia 3230, 6260, 6600, 6620, 6630, 6670, 6680,
6681, 6682, 7610; and
Panasonic X700, X800.)
Call
Blocking enables users to block incoming calls from selected
numbers or groups of numbers or callers who give no ID, by
giving a busy signal.
Call
Erasing enables users to automatically delete phone numbers
and contact details, pre-selected by the user, from their
incoming, outgoing and missed calls lists. Optionally, you
can replace actual numbers with numbers of your choice, and
keep details of blocked or private calls in a separate secure
private logfile.
AlibitelContactHandler
retails for £9.95 (US $22.90), but is on sale until
Oct. 31 for £6.95, or US $12.25. To download the software,
see Alibitel.com.
