Oracle, StayinFront each announce mobile field sales tools
August
23, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- In separate announcements,
Oracle and StayinFront have each announced new or updated
versions of their sales and customer relationship management
(CRM) software for handheld PDAs and smartphones.
Oracle
today announced the release of Oracle Sales for Handhelds,
a new application that aims to provide mobile salespeople
with real-time access to CRM data including customer contacts,
opportunities, products and other information.
Sales
reps can access and update contacts, appointments and tasks
through their own handheld device using their Personal Information
Manager (PIM) and update deal critical information via a web
browser in real time. Sales reps can also pull the latest
customer and opportunity information, monitor order status,
take notes and set follow-up items, according to Oracle.
When
sales reps update information on the status of a deal, the
changes automatically flow into the related sales forecast,
ensuring a unified view of customers pipeline and orders for
both the sales and management teams.
Oracle
Sales for Handhelds is meant to complement the online and
disconnected editions of Oracle Sales, part of the Oracle
E-Business Suite. The application supports Pocket PC handhelds
running Pocket IE on Windows Mobile 2003, Palm based handheld
devices running Blazer 3.0 browser or higher and Nokia Communicators
running Opera browser on Symbian Operating System 7.0.
Oracle
did not provide pricing information, but said that the product
is now available from its web site.
StayinFront,
Inc. has announced version 9.2 of its StayinFront Mobile,
and StayinFront Companion CRM (customer relationship management)
and sales automation software for PDAs and other handheld
Pocket PCs running on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0.
Although
PDA manufacturers have not yet officially released Windows
Mobile 5.0 devices, there have been several preview announcements
and such devices are expected to be released by next month.
StayinFront
Mobile allows users to operate remotely and synchronize data
directly through the Internet from their PDA. Organizations
can use StayinFront Mobile to deliver information such as
sales data, inventory and customer service data to field users
at the point of sale.
StayinFront
Companion augments StayinFront CRM 9.2 desktop- or laptop-based
solutions. Users can select segments of information from their
StayinFront CRM 9.2 application and easily download to their
PDA.
StayinFront
Mobile and StayinFront Companion are built and configured
using StayinFront's scalable enterprise CRM architecture.
With its Windows Mobile 5.0 interface, StayinFront Mobile
and StayinFront Companion feature a tabbed notebook look and
feel, and recognizable graphic icons that provide quick access
to important data.
The company
