Handmark releases Oxford Spanish Dictionary for PDAs &
smartphones

23, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Handmark today released The
Oxford Spanish Dictionary for PDAs and smartphones. The dictionary
features the latest vocabulary from both Latin American and
European Spanish, and American and British English.
The Oxford
Spanish Dictionary
comes in PDA versions for Palm OS and Microsoft Pocket PC
as well as Windows Mobile Smartphones and Symbian UIQ. The
Handmark version is optimized to run from an SD/MMC (Secure
Digital/MultiMediaCard) expansion memory card.
The dictionary
is compiled by expert Spanish and English lexicographers Beatriz
Galimberti Jarman, Roy Russell, Carol Styles Carvajal, and
Jane Horwood, and covers written and spoken Spanish throughout
all regions of the world. Special attention in this edition
has been given to areas of interest to business and academic
users, including business, scientific, and IT (Information
Technology) terms, according to Handmark.
Users
can choose to browse the dictionary alphabetically, or search
for a specific word or phrase by entering characters into
the search box. Hot buttons for frequently used functions
allow for quick access. American English is presented throughout,
with British English alternatives supplied where appropriate.
Over 300,000 words and phrases and over 480,000 translations
are provided.
The "Word
of the Day" feature allows users to build their vocabulary
and the detailed pronunciation guide provides guidance for
proper pronunciation and word usage.
The dictionary
is available at handmark.com and from major computer and office
supply retailers.
