Perlego adds software for managing workers' smartphones
August
1, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- After acquiring smart phone
management technologies from strategic partner Action Engine,
Perlego Systems says it has added software that allows carriers
and enterprises to control and protect applications and data
across all smart phones in their network.
Perlego
Mobile Device Manager, Enterprise Edition enables administrators
to manage and deploy a fleet of smart phones. Administrators
can seamlessly migrate data from one device to another, regardless
of model or carrier, according to Perlego. If a phone is lost
or stolen, the device can quickly and easily be backed up,
hard reset and wiped clean or disabled over-the-air (OTA).
The suite
consists of three components: Perlego OTA Backup, Perlego
OTA Update and Perlego OTA Remote.
Perlego
OTA Backup saves and restores the valuable personal
information stored on a wireless device, including contacts,
calendar entries, images, memos and to-do items - all over-the-air.
If a smart phone device is lost or stolen, personal or proprietary
data can be easily restored to any replacement device, regardless
of brand, model or operating system, according to Perlego.
Perlego
OTA Update delivers the administration and presentation
of a custom-branded mobile catalog of downloadable files.
By enhancing the discovery of software updates, Perlego OTA
Update makes it easy for users to locate desired content for
download and deliver software upgrades to devices in the field.
OTA
Remote allows administrators to issue commands directly
to devices in the field. Using a web-based console, Perlego
OTA Remote allows carriers and businesses to execute any command
a user can initiate manually. If a device is lost, Perlego
OTA Remote allows the device to be backed up, hard reset,
wiped clean or even disabled.
