Psion Teklogix improves on its Workabout Pro line

May 11, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Mississauga, Ontario based Psion Teklogix (LSE: PON) today announced improvements to its WORKABOUT PRO line of rugged handheld computers. Recent enhancements include 1D and 2D image readers, a high-frequency RFID reader, a wide area wireless communications PC Card Radio Kit, and Windows Mobile as an alternative platform to Windows CE .NET.

The 1D image reader system provides customers with a cost-effective option for linear barcode scanning data capture capabilities. The 2D image reader enables users to read more comprehensive data from a barcode such as customer location, shipping location and shipment contents

A high-frequency RFID reader is now available, further enhancing the multimedia data capture capabilities of the WORKABOUT PRO. Operating at 13.56 MHz, high-frequency RFID is often used in applications such as asset tracking or closed-loop supply chain logistics.

GPRS and CDMA wireless connectivity for the WORKABOUT PRO is now also delivered via a new wide area wireless communications PC Card Radio Kit. This kit gives customers increased flexibility to choose the most beneficial wireless option

Also of note is that the WORKABOUT PRO is available in either Windows Mobile or Windows CE .NET configurations.
