Sagem Morpho intros handheld biometric ID terminal for law
enforcement & transportation use

WA, May 24, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- SAGEM Morpho, Inc.
today introduced Morpho RapID, a rugged mobile handheld biometric
terminal for use in law enforcement, transportation and homeland
security applications.
Law Enforcement
users can acquire a fingerprint image and remotely perform
one-to-many identifications against a watch list or one-to-one
comparisons for identity verification. Morpho RapID matching
accuracy is achieved through the forensic quality optical
fingerprint sensor and the SAGEM on-board AFIS-quality fingerprint
algorithms, according to the company. The handheld has an
internal memory that can store up to 100,000 fingerprint records.
The Morpho
RapID is sealed, shock resistant, can withstand a four foot
drop to concrete, and meets IP 54 qualifications for resistance
to dust and water, according to SAGEM.
The unit
is powered by an extended life lithium-ion removable battery
and supports multiple wireless interfaces, including GSM,
GPRS as well as WiFi true wireless connectivity.
