New products for mobile law enforcement: Bio-key adds mobile
data server; Relm Wireless base stations add VoIP capability

today, Bio-key and Relm Wireless unveiled new products targeted
largely at mobile law enforcement.
Relm
Wireless announced that its BK Radio V Series digital
base stations, compliant with the APCO Project 25 (P25)
standard for public safety digital radio equipment, will now
offer the added capability to transmit and receive signals
via the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) standard for Web-based
voice communications. Combining VoIP and P25 digital LMR (land
mobile radio) extends the communication area of the digital
radios, while keeping the radio network private and independent
of cellular and conventional telephone networks or commercial
utilities.

Bio-key,
a provider of finger-based biometric identification and wireless
public safety software, today announced its VirtualCop
mobile data server product line. VirtualCop aims to deliver
information on any hardware, computer or handheld device across
any communications infrastructure.
Bio-key's
products aim to enable police officers and other government
workers to access information from laptops, notebooks, tablets,
handheld PDA's, smart phones and RIM devices that operate
over a private RF network or using any of major carrier's
public networks.
Bio-key
says the VirtualCop server introduces several new capabilities
over the company's previous products:
- Compliance
with the FBI mandated encryption and authentication standards,
FIPS 140-2.
- NCIC
query screen display of critical information at a glance.
- Acquiring
drivers' license images - providing visual confirmation
of an individual's identity.
- An
Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL), providing real time information
of every unit's location.
- Integration
to 47 States criminal justice databases.
- Connection
to more than 40 CAD/RMS vendors software solutions.
