Systems previews v3 of its mobile middleware
Boston,
& Orlando, April 11, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Adesso
Systems has announced version 3 of its Instant Mobility Platform,
which allows enterprises to extend applications and information
to mobile workers.
Adesso
Version 3 adds the integration of external plug-ins and .NET
components into Adesso-based applications, allowing customers
to build applications that map to their specific business
processes. The new version also adds new file synchronization,
user interface personalization, Oracle database support, interactive
reporting and instant surveys.
The most
significant improvement in Adesso Version 3 is the Extension
Manager, which allows developers and power users to extend
their applications with components created using other development
tools. This plug-in capability allows customers to supplement
Adesso applications with custom-coded components from external
programs via .NET libraries. New features can be integrated
and extended to mobile devices without disrupting end-user
activities or requiring re-installation of the application
on a user's handheld, according to Adesso.
For example,
using the Extension Manager, an organization in the healthcare
industry whose data is subject to strict regulatory standards
could employ a business rules engine created outside of Adesso
to validate data capture by a field worker according to regulations.
As the user collects and submits the data necessary to complete
a task, the data is actually processed by the rules engine,
and any error messages are passed back to the Adesso client
and transparently presented to the user through the Adesso
application interface.
The new
File Synchronization feature applies Adesso's synchronization,
security policy management, routing and back office integration
to folders and files for mobile workers. Documents, spreadsheets,
presentation, audio and video files can be distributed, managed
and integrated.
The new
Adesso Survey Engine aims to help customers configure and
distribute surveys via an easy-to-use development wizard with
advanced branching logic, enabling surveys to be built for
one-or-more data collection applications or incorporated into
existing applications as a part of a customer service interaction.
The Interactive Reporting feature helps sort and analyze data
so that companies can gain additional insight into their business
process functions and aids in future business decisions.
Version
3 also improves on the user interface and navigation. For
example, users can navigate through an application in a user
homepage format linking individual or work teams
to their most important activities. Administrators can also
embed bitmap images and other graphical elements into applications
and distribute them to any combination of PDA, laptop, tablet
or desktop PC without re-factoring for screen real estate,
according to Adesso.
Version
3 of the Adesso Instant Mobility Platform is expected to be
available in the second quarter of 2005. To learn more about
the platform or company, see the Adesso Systems web site or
