Samsung
previews phones with file viewing & remote control functions
Seoul,
Korea, March 29, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Samsung Electronics
has introduced its first phones with what it calls "file
viewer" capabilities. The Samsung SPH-V6500 and SCH-V650
allow users to view documents and images over the mobile phone.
 |
Data
can be downloaded onto the phones in its original file
format through a PC connection, similar to an external
storage device. Microsoft Word and Excel files can be
viewed, as well as PDF, JPG, and TXT files.
|
The phones
also have a 1.3 megapixel camera with a color LCD, and a remote
control function that provides universal control of home appliances
including the air conditioner, PC, game console, TV, DVD,
VCR and even the automobile.
The file
viewer phones support various multimedia functions. Users
can watch video-on-demand programs (where offered) and find
the words to their favorite song. They can also use one of
seven different fonts available for personalized messaging.
The SCH-V650, in particular, uses the WIPI 2.0 version, the
Korean wireless internet platform.
The phones
have also acquired the S-Mark certification from the Korean
government for their anti-bacterial silver nano-particle coating,
says Samsung.
Samsung
did not say when or where the phones would be available outside
of Korea.
