March
31, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Two new web site viewing applications
for users of Pocket PC devices were released this week. Ohio
based MaximumSoft updated its web page copying and offline
viewing utility, and London, UK based OnSpeed released its
web browsing acceleration software.
MaximumSoft
has released version 4.2 of its WebCopier for Pocket PC
application, which allows users to download entire Web sites,
store them locally and view them later view them on desktop
computers or Pocket PC handhelds, with no Internet connection
required.
WebCopier
can copy or print whole sites or sections. The user can schedule
the downloads to occur at a particular time, and saved pages
can then be copied onto disks and CDs.

The
new version provides added landscape and high-resolution
support for Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition, more functionality
when downloads are paused, and gives users easier access
to previously used templates, according to MaximumSoft. |

web site.
OnSpeed has released its OnSpeed web-browsing acceleration
software for Pocket PC devices. The software allows users
to browse the web and use web based email up to 10 times faster,
according to the company.
After it's installed, OnSpeed sits quietly in the background,
accelerating any Internet browsing as required. The application
can be used on any Pocket PC internet connection - including
GSM, UMTS, 3G and GPRS. Where users are billed per MB download,
the software will have the added benefit of reducing the user's
telephone bill by up to 90%, says OnSpeed.
OnSpeed says its technology has nine patents, some of which
cover its Content Sensitive Compression (CSC) technology that
is based on a series of algorithms that compress and then
optimise content by each individual file within a web page.
OnSpeed for Pocket PC costs GBP24.99 a year, or about US
$40. The software is compatible with most widely used Pocket
PC phones and devices. To view a device list and buy the software,
see the OnSpeed web site.
