MapInfo
upates its Windows Mobile mapping application to v5
Troy,
NY, March 22, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- MapInfo today announced
version 5.0 of its MapX Mobile mapping application for Microsoft
Windows Pocket PC software developers. Version 5.0 adds new
functionality and support for the latest handheld devices
and standard development languages.
The mobile
mapping software can be used for example, by insurers for
on site risk assessment, for retail mobile sales staff to
access information about customers, or for telecommunications
service engineers to identify where underground equipment
is located.
MapX
Mobile v5.0 can be customised via standard development languages
such as Embedded C++ and Microsoft .NET. Data created using
MapX Mobile v5.0 software can be displayed with the MapXtreme
2004 application, MapInfo's location-based development environment
built on Microsoft .NET.
Version
v5.0 adds new capabilities, including support for Enhanced
Compressed Wavelet (ECW) imagery format, thematic mapping,
object creation and processing.
MapInfo
MapX Mobile v5.0, plus a free Software Developer Kit (SDK),
is available from the MapInfo web site.
