Bluefire Security Technologies today announced version 3.5
of its Bluefire Mobile Security Suite, and version 2.0 of
Bluefire Mobile Security VPN (Virtual Private Network.)
Bluefire
Mobile Security Suite includes functionality for authentication,
encryption, integrity monitoring, firewall, logging and central
management. Configuration commands from Bluefire's Enterprise
Manager console and log updates from mobile devices are securely
transmitted according to preset time intervals, according
to Bluefire Security.
Improvements
to version 3.5 include:
- over-the-air
(OTA) architecture, which eliminates dependency on cradling
to keep mobile device security policies up-to-date;
- automated
user management through integration with Microsoft Active
Directory; and
- automatic
registration, which speeds PDA security deployment with
intelligent mobile device recognition and user identity
linking.
The software
works on Palm, Pocket PC and Windows Mobile devices, and can
be installed onto any networked or remote device. Users can
download Bluefire's software to their device via a web link,
email or through third party device management products such
as Extended Systems' OneBridge or iAnywhere's Afaria.
Bluefire
also released the Bluefire Mobile Security VPN 2.0,
an IPSec virtual private network (VPN) client for mobile devices.
The application is works with the two most popular VPN concentrator
product lines (Cisco and Nortel). It comes bundled with RSA
Security's BSAFE encryption to meet federal guidelines as
established by National Institute of Standards and Technology
in the Federal Information Processing Standards 140-2 (FIPS
140-2).
Both
products are useable across various connections, including
Wi-Fi, LAN, GSM and CDMA, according to Bluefire Security.
Bluefire
Mobile Security products are available in the U.S. through
CDW Logistics, GTSI, immixGroup, Merlin Technical Solutions,
and Northrop Grumman; and internationally through Ubitexx
GmbH (Germany), Boxing Orange (UK) and Synergy Software Systems
