SpectraLink
wireless phones get security upgrades
Orlando,
Feb. 7, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- SpectraLink (NASDAQ:SLNK)
has added enhanced features and capabilities to its NetLink
Wireless Telephones. The enhancements include support for
the latest Wi-Fi security standards, and improved functionality
and management for SpectraLink's push-to-talk feature. These
upgrades will be available to all existing NetLink e340 and
i640 phone users.
SpectraLink
says its NetLink Wireless Telephones support the Wi-Fi
Alliance's security specifications WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access)
and WPA2, which are based on the IEEE 802.11i standard, to
ensure compatibility with new and existing enterprise Wi-Fi
equipment. SpectraLink also recently announced a certification
program designed to verify interoperability and performance
between NetLink phones and Wi-Fi access points.
The NetLink upgrade for SpectraLink's NetLink i640 handset
also includes improvements to the handset's push-to-talk (PTT)
feature: faster access to PTT channels and simplified administration
and setup. Additional improvements are promised in usability
and administration on both the NetLink e340 and i640 Wireless
Telephones.
