Webraska
updates its GPS navigation app for carriers
Paris,
Jan. 20, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Webraska Mobile Technologies,
a provider of voice-enabled GPS wireless navigation applications
for wireless carriers, has launched updates to its SmartZone
Navigation offering.
SmartZone
Navigation is now available for all four major wireless operating
platforms: Symbian Series 60, Symbian UIQ, Microsoft Windows
Mobile for Smartphones, and Microsoft Windows Mobile for Pocket
PC Phone Edition.
Other
new features in this version include:
- Enhanced
design style optimising map display for small screen sizes
helping to distinguish the proposed route from other road
segments and surrounding areas.
- Display
of even more street names than before - and many more than
competitive products.
- Integration
of radar warnings, alerting drivers of approaching "speed
trap" or radar.
- One-way
streets indicated with arrows.
- Turn
arrows on vector maps to indicate manoeuvres.
- Merged
or "concatenated" intersection pictograms at complex
junctions coupled with merged voice instructions such as
"turn left at the roundabout and then turn right".
- Support
for many new devices including the Nokia 7610 (Symbian Series
60), SPV C500 (Microsoft Windows for Smartphone), Qtek 9090
(Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC) and SonyEricsson P800/
P900 (Symbian UIQ).
Orange
France is the first wireless carrier to sell the new release,
recently extending distribution of the product to the retail
chains for France Telecom, FNAC, Darty, Tel and Com and Internity.
A free trial version of the application for Symbian Series
60 and Pocket PC devices has also been made available from
Orange France's website.
Webraska
powers offerings for Orange, Vodafone, O2, Sensis (a wholly
owned subsidiary of Telstra), and Toyota France.
