Webraska updates its GPS navigation app for carriers

Paris, Jan. 20, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Webraska Mobile Technologies, a provider of voice-enabled GPS wireless navigation applications for wireless carriers, has launched updates to its SmartZone Navigation offering.

SmartZone Navigation is now available for all four major wireless operating platforms: Symbian Series 60, Symbian UIQ, Microsoft Windows Mobile for Smartphones, and Microsoft Windows Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition.

Other new features in this version include:

  • Enhanced design style optimising map display for small screen sizes helping to distinguish the proposed route from other road segments and surrounding areas.
  • Display of even more street names than before - and many more than competitive products.
  • Integration of radar warnings, alerting drivers of approaching "speed trap" or radar.
  • One-way streets indicated with arrows.
  • Turn arrows on vector maps to indicate manoeuvres.
  • Merged or "concatenated" intersection pictograms at complex junctions coupled with merged voice instructions such as "turn left at the roundabout and then turn right".
  • Support for many new devices including the Nokia 7610 (Symbian Series 60), SPV C500 (Microsoft Windows for Smartphone), Qtek 9090 (Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC) and SonyEricsson P800/ P900 (Symbian UIQ).

Orange France is the first wireless carrier to sell the new release, recently extending distribution of the product to the retail chains for France Telecom, FNAC, Darty, Tel and Com and Internity. A free trial version of the application for Symbian Series 60 and Pocket PC devices has also been made available from Orange France's website.

Webraska powers offerings for Orange, Vodafone, O2, Sensis (a wholly owned subsidiary of Telstra), and Toyota France.
