New Toshiba notebook first to the gate with Intel's newest
Centrino technology
San
Diego, Jan. 20, 2004 -- (MobileVillage) -- Toshiba today announced
its latest Satellite series notebook, the M45, which houses
Intel's newly announced next-generation Centrino wireless
technology.
Starting
at 6.2 pounds, the Satellite M45 measures 14.2-inches wide,
10.5-inches deep, and features a wedge design 1.1 to 1.7-inches
high. The notebook has a 15.4-inch diagonal display, 512MB
of SDRAM, and a 80GB hard drive for the Satellite M45-S331
or 100GB for the M45-S351.
The Toshiba
Satellite M45 is equipped with next-generation Intel Centrino
mobile technology (formerly codenamed Sonoma), which includes
a Intel Pentium M processor 730 running at 1.60GHz, Intel
Graphics Media Accelerator 900 chipset, and and Intel PRO/Wireless
2200BG (802.11b/g) wireless capability.
Toshiba's
DVD-SuperMulti drive reads and writes to most CD and DVD formats,
while the Toshiba Express Media Player enables one button
access to CD and DVD playback without booting the Microsoft
Windows operating system. Built-in Harman/Kardon stereo speakers
and SRS virtual surround sound technology cater to the audiophile.
A convenient
feature of the Satellite M45 is the bridge media adapter which
can be used to quickly and easily move files such as digital
photos or music files from a digital camera or MP3 player.
The bridge media adapter accepts SecureDigital, Multimedia,
MemoryStick, MemoryStick Pro and SmartMedia memory cards for
quick transfer of digital files.
The M45
runs on a six-cell (4300mAh) rechargeable, removable Lithium-ion
battery that lasts approximately 12 hours when in power off
mode and up to 2 hours and 45 minutes in Windows mode, according
to Toshiba.
The Toshiba
M45 Satellite Series retails starting at US $1,499 for the
S331 model and $1,699 for the S351. The
new M45 Series notebook PC is available with one-year or three-year
limited warranty options.
