Good
Technology adds enterprise application access
- Gary Thayer, News Editor
Jan.
25, 2005 -- (MobileVillage) -- Good Technology, Inc. has announced
GoodAccess, its software platform that extends Oracle, Siebel,
salesforce.com and custom enterprise applications to mobile
professionals on a range of Palm and Pocket PC devices.
Good
says that GoodAccess employs the same infrastructure as its
GoodLink mobile email access software and service. GoodAccess
connects mobile employees to enterprise applications residing
behind the firewall through a secure transport layer and standards-based
integration.
The GoodAccess
platform is integrated with GoodLink, includes GoodAccess
client and server software and service, and is packaged with
the Above All Studio from Above All Software.
Using
the Above All Studio and GoodAccess, businesses can assemble
and deploy integrated, composite wireless applications that
combine data and functionality from multiple systems such
as order management, product catalogs, invoicing and messaging,
for "an integrated experience that emulates the natural
business process of the user" according to Good. The
Above All Studio connects to backend systems through standards
such as web services and ODBC, as well as other APIs.
Some
of GoodAccess' main features include:
- Multitasking.
GoodAccess queues information requests that require communication
with the backend system. Background processing allows users
to proceed with other activities such as responding to email
and downloading attachments.
- Offline
capability. Users can save information and then view it
when they're offline or out of coverage.
- Folder
structures. Users can organize information according to
their individual preferences.
- Broadcasting/Push-to-handheld.
GoodAccess enables time-sensitive updates to be pushed to
handheld devices.
- AES
encryption, SSL, advanced password security, and the ability
to remotely erase Good applications and data if a handheld
is lost or stolen.
- Secure
Over The Air (OTA) administration. Secure OTA management
enables IT to setup, update, and push GoodLink and other
third party applications to handhelds wirelessly.
GoodAccess
is currently available for sale through Good's direct sales
force and select value added resellers in the United States
and Western Europe. For pricing information, see the Good
web site.
