Taipei,
Taiwan, Dec. 30, 2004 -- (MobileVillage) -- Ericsson has announced
that it will provide seamless wireless coverage to the world's
tallest building. The wireless network covers the Taipei Financial
Center, also called Taipei 101, which is officially inaugurated
this week.

At
106 floors and 508 meters (1,674 feet), Taipei 101 towers
over greater Taipei, which has about 7 million people,
about a third of Taiwan's population. By contrast, the
Petronas Towers in Kuala Llumpur, Malaysia, are 452
meters.
Ericsson,
which was selected by Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom for
the rollout, claims that it will provide seamless coverage
across 2G and 3G networks, including coverage in the
world's fastest elevators, which travel at up to 1,000
meters per minute.

The building's
system incorporates different network technologies on different
frequency bands, including GSM900, GSM1800, CDMA800, CDMA2000
and WCDMA in a common antenna system.
