In the first large media event held at its new spaceship-like headquarters today, Apple unveiled what you already knew was coming — if you followed the many rumors.   • Silver or Black stainless steel body with glass on the back, too.
  • Six-core “A11 Bionic” processor promises to be faster than the A10.
  • 4.7-inch display (1334 x 750 or 326 pixels per inch) like the iPhone 7.
  • Supports HDR, 3D Touch and “true tone” display.
  • 12-megapixel front wide lens (no telephoto) with f/1.8 aperture + digital zoom up to 5x.
  • 7-megapixel rear selfie cam, like the iPhone 7/7 Plus.
  • Wireless charging finally supported, using the Qi wireless standard.
  • Apple’s “AirPower” mat will wirelessly charge multiple devices, but isn’t available until 2018. (Other brands also offer charging mats, available now.)

  • 5.5-inch display (1920 x 1080 or 401 pixels per inch) like the iPhone 7 Plus.
  • Dual 12-megapixel front cameras: f/1.8 aperture on the wide lens + f/2.8 on the telephoto.
  • Optical image stabilization on the wide lens only.
  • Optical zoom; digital zoom up to 10x.
  • “Portrait Lighting” camera mode.
  • Factory calibration on the cameras for augmented reality.
  • 64GB retails for $799 (€667 or ₹51,106), or 256GB for $949 (€792 or ₹60,700).
  • Available for pre-order Friday, September 15, and ships Sept. 22.

iPhone X specs & features

  • Edge-to-edge display with curved edges, like Samsung’s Galaxy S8.
  • Top cut-out area for the front-facing camera and sensors (unlike the Galaxy S8).
  • No more home button — raise or tap to wake, and swipe up for home.
  • Face ID replaces TouchID to unlock your phone–Apple claims it’s more secure.
  • Infrared sensor, flood illuminator and dot projector for Face ID and other apps.
  • Face ID for Apple Pay: double-click the side button and look at your phone.
  • Swipe up and pause to see the multitasking menu.
  • Bigger side button, which you hold to access Siri (or say “hey Siri” as usual).
  • Dual 12-megapixel front cameras: f/1.8 aperture on the wide lens + f/2.4 on the telephoto.
  • Optical image stabilization on both wide and telephoto lenses.
  • Optical zoom; digital zoom up to 10x, as on the 8 Plus.
  • “Portrait Lighting” camera mode on both back and front (selfie) camera.
  • “Animoji”: Use the selfie cam to save and send emoji with your own expressions.
  • Factory calibration on the cameras for augmented reality.
  • Lasts up to 2 hours longer than iPhone 7.
