  • Six-core “A11 Bionic” processor promises to be faster than the A10.

  • Edge-to-edge display with curved edges, like Samsung’s Galaxy S8.
  • Top cut-out area for the front-facing camera and sensors (unlike the Galaxy S8).
  • No more home button — raise or tap to wake, and swipe up for home.
  • Face ID replaces TouchID to unlock your phone–Apple claims it’s more secure.
  • Infrared sensor, flood illuminator and dot projector for Face ID and other apps.
  • Face ID for Apple Pay: double-click the side button and look at your phone.
  • Swipe up and pause to see the multitasking menu.
  • Bigger side button, which you hold to access Siri (or say “hey Siri” as usual).
  • Dual 12-megapixel front cameras: f/1.8 aperture on the wide lens + f/2.4 on the telephoto.
  • Optical image stabilization on both wide and telephoto lenses.
  • Optical zoom; digital zoom up to 10x, as on the 8 Plus.
